GO GIANTS!

I have loved the San Francisco Giants baseball team ever since my Grandfather took my brother and I to a game at Candlestick Park in 1971.  I remember 19-year-old Chris Speier playing shortstop.  It was his rookie year and he seemed so young to me.  I don’t remember who they played, but they won.  Grandpa bought us peanuts and hotdogs.  It was a wonderful day I will never forget.

Since then, I have been a fan through their good years and bad because they have been there for me.  During baseball season, I can usually count on being able to watch a game on TV that will take me away from whatever is going on in my life.  Good or bad.

I have passed my love of baseball to my three boys who are also Giants fans.  We have been lucky enough to take them to many games at the new stadium at AT&T Park.  Every August the whole family (about 20 of us) attends the “Until There’s A Cure” day.  On that day, the team donates ticket proceeds to AIDs research.  Last year we wished my Grandpa “Happy Birthday” on the scoreboard.  He was 96.

In August 2006, we took our first Grandchild, Katie.  Now she’s a Giants fan too.  Four generations enjoying San Francisco Giants baseball.  It doesn’t get any better than that!
